Submitted by admin on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 15:35.

University Computer Science departments from every Canadian province will celebrate National Computer Science Education Week from December 4-10, 2011. This week is planned in recognition of the transformative role of computing and the need to bolster computer science at all educational levels.

Activities range from a full-day computer science fair for high school students to workshops for middle-schools students to public laboratory tours.

To learn more, visit the official CSEd Week website.

NOTE: Some events were scheduled before and beyond the official CSEd Week of Dec. 4-10, 2011, notably:

  • Before:

October 26, 2011: Bishop's University held a CS Day to introduce young people to the field of computer science. View the CS Day event details, the event poster and photos.

  • Beyond:

January 13-15, 2012: Université de Montréal's Département d'Informatique et de R.O. will host a three day event called "Séjour découverte en informatique". This event is open to CEGEP students and secondary school students in their final year, and will introduce them to computer science topics and the "university life experience".
